Release Day: The Secret Year & Leaving Gee's Bend

Release Day is a recurring blog feature to give a shout-out to Tenner books on their official debut day.   Today, there are two: The Secret Year, a young adult novel by Jennifer R. Hubbard.  If you scroll waaaayyy back in the blog, you'll see this is one of the books that first caught my eye when I joined the Tenners.  I still think it sounds fantastic and, now that it's out, I can finally read it!

To celebrate the release, Jenn is doing an online launch party on her blog through the end of today.  Hurry!

.

Leaving Gee's Bend is a middle-grade novel by Irene Latham and the first Tenner book I read.  A very memorable story with an outstanding voice.  My full write-up is here

Irene will celebrate her debut, quietly, with family and a local quilting group, where she will honor her seamstress mom and talk about how this novel, at its heart is a love poem to her mother.  Her "official" book launch party will be January 10 at North Shelby Library (Birmingham, Alabama), where she'll celebrate with actual quilters from Gee's Bend (and a quilt!), without whom there would be no LEAVING GEE'S BEND.

Congrats, Jenn and Irene!
